By heating plastic filament, a 3D Printer is able to create nearly any solid three-dimensional object based on a design contained in a computer file. These designs can be created by yourself if you are well experienced, or alternatively, there are countless thousands of designs created by other users which are available on the internet.
The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In an additive process, an object is created by laying down successive layers of material until the object is created. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of the eventual object.
